“The cry of the Iranian revolution arrives to Italy, trough the artworks of NAFIR. In fact ‘’nafir’’ means ‘’scream’’ and the word is identified by the artist in a poem by Rumi, the most famous Persian poet of the XIII century. Nafir’s body of work supports the revolution that is taking place in his country (which started on the day of the death of the Kurdish girl Mahsa Amini, killed by the moral police) and denounces the growing oppression that people are suffering (imprisonments, killings, rapes, executions). Having seen how courageously Iranian have taken to the streets since September 2022, rejecting the rules of behaviour that are imposed by the government, and seeing that the revolution stays alive, we, as a gallery, have decided to show right in this period the beauty of Iranian culture.

Nafir’s artworks have been used in protests around the world to powerfully represent the suffering and courage of Iranian people and the ‘’Woman Life Freedom movement’’. In this exhibition you will see that unveiled women are the true protagonists of our times.
In Tehran and in other cities his carpets can be seen placed on the walls or on the ground with the aim of ‘’disturbing’’ the propaganda and inspire emotions regarding the themes of freedom, equality and democracy, for which especially the new generation is struggling. In his works the most ancient traditions meet the stencil, of which he his a master, to give a new reading to traditional Persian carpets and their textures, celebrating his love for Iran.”
